2nd: Students finished learning about how ruinous oil spills can be to ocean ecosystems. They have been learning about ways to clean up oil spills and are brianstorming to see if they can come up with a way to 100% clean up the oil. Additionally, they are discovering the process for cleaning plants and animals from oil coverage using crude oil. Additionally, they learned about the terms bouyancy and water erosion and began researching about an underwater creature.
3rd: Students finsihed learning about the differences between extinct, endangered, and threatened animal species and completed creating an animal chain to demonstrate dietary habits, habitats, and visual representations of the animal in the process of working to find ways to help endangered and threatened species thrive. They also began creating radio or visual news bulletins where they report on species that are no longer on the threatened or endangered classification. 4th/5th: Students have continued learning about why the phrase "all roads lead to Rome" continued in the process of understanding the unique way that roads were built, why they were built that way, and how it assisted the Romans (and others) prospere and thrive in their journeys. 4th Grade has moved on to legume mosaics that were representative of Ancient Roman house decor. Additionally, they continued creating their own STEM Roman road marble maze to see if their roads are "build Roman tough". Middle School: Students are working on creating a play about Feudalism. First, they have finished working on learning about the various roles of Middle Age Feudalism through research and created a Flipgrid to teach others about their assigned role. Now using the information they learned from the collective Flipgrids, they are beginning to create three characters, the overall setting, the problem, and the solution to their individual plays. Additionally, they are continuing on their depth and complexity advanced novel study of "Walk Two Moons" by Sharon Creech. |
